Our client,that provides services relating to the construction and maintenance of maritime infrastructure and other construction works on an international basis. The main fields of construction work are marine, dredging and land reclamation contractors; heavy contractors for the oil and gas, power and water industries; electromechanical and infrastructure contractors; geotechnical and foundation engineering services, is looking for:

General Manager of the Kazakhstan Region

The role is based in Aktau.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the company’s operations in the Kazakhstan region and is held accountable for respective results, including all project and commercial activities
  • Has good understanding of the Kazakhstan region and uses sound judgment to start-up and develop the company’s business in the region
  • Has good understanding of the engineering and related technical requirements as well as of the construction practices in the EPC business
  • Develops business plan and sales strategy that ensure the attainment of the company sales goals and profitability in the Kazakhstan region
    • Determines annual and gross-profit plans, by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas; projecting expected sales volume and profit; analyzing trends and results; establishing strategies; monitoring costs, competition, supply, and demand
  • Meets financial objectives, by forecasting requirements; preparing annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Builds and maintains strong business relations with current clients and expands the customer base by identifying new, potential clients
  • Assesses risks and manages them respectively to control them as planned
  • Plans, organizes and controls the implementation of work towards the achievement of goals and objectives
  • Ensures that projects are delivered with margin higher than estimated and within time and other specifications required
  • Ensures customer expectations are met
  • Manages, develops, coaches and motivates personnel to take action and achieve team and company goals
  • Seeks continuity of utilization of Regional resources
  • Ensures compliance with respective corporate policies and procedures as well as with local laws and regulations

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical)
  • Minimum of 15 years working experience in the construction industry
  • Proven experience in start-up businesses
  • Minimum of 5 years’ senior managerial experience in the construction industry, preferably in EPC type of company
  • Minimum of 10 years managerial experience
  • Knowledge and experience in the Kazakhstan region and its key players
  • Excellent communication skills; fluency in both English and Russian languages (both written and oral). Command of Russian language is a “must have”
  • High mobility is required, although the selected candidate will be based in Aktau
